About OPF
Our Peoples Foundation(OPF) is a First Nations–led, DGR1-registered charity dedicated to community-controlled cultural knowledge, language renewal, and creative expression. We co-design programs, facilitate cultural practice, and build digital archives that empower Aboriginal Peoples to carry culture forward on their terms.
Our Vision
To see Aboriginal languages, knowledge systems, and cultural practices thrive as living, everyday parts of community life.
Our Approach
We work in deep collaboration with Elders, knowledge holders, and communities, guided by cultural protocols that ensure every project is respectful, inclusive, and community-controlled. Our process supports the continuation of living cultures through design, storytelling, and digital innovation grounded in self-determination.
Our Theory of Change
We believe that when communities have the tools, skills, and control to document and share their own knowledge, culture is strengthened across generations. OPF’s model builds capacity through co-design, digital archiving, creative production, and education—ensuring language and cultural materials are governed by the communities to whom they belong.
Our Commitment to Data Sovereignty
OPF is committed to Indigenous Data Sovereignty and follows the Maiam nayri Wingara principles, ensuring that all cultural data, stories, and digital archives remain owned, protected, and governed by First Nations peoples. We uphold protocols of access, consent, and control, embedding them in every aspect of our work.
Our Team
OPF is led by First Nations artists, cultural producers, and community leaders with decades of experience in cultural storytelling, language renewal, and multimedia innovation.
